Mobile Data System
On January 25, 2007, FCEMS launched a Mobile Data System that supports
and enhances many functions of the agency. Each piece of FCEMS
apparatus is equipped with a Panasonic Toughbook 29 ruggedized
laptop computer, an InMotion Technology OMG-1000 mobile
gateway/router and a Verizon V620 wireless PC card to leverage the
power of a recently introduced EVDO Cellular Data Network in the
Winston-Salem market. The FCEMS Mobile Data System is used to:
-
Allow mobile user
interface to the CAD system using Intergraph I/Mobile that also
interfaces with automatic vehicle location (AVL) hardware and
provides extensive map capabilities.
-
Rapidly identify and
dispatch the closest available ambulance to the incident
-
Provide
Vehicle-to-Vehicle, Vehicle-to-CAD and CAD-to-Vehicle messaging
-
Provide ability to
upload/retrieve and print Patient Care Reports (PCRs) while
mobile
-
Provide IP-based
transmission of 12 Lead EKG data to the receiving medical
facility prior to arrival
-
Perform remote
maintenance of vehicle hardware and software by IT staff
