Critical Care Program

FORSYTH COUNTY EMS EXPANDS TO CRITICAL CARE

Forsyth County EMS is proud to announce we are providing Critical Care Paramedics to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC). These Critical Care Paramedics will be assigned to the Critical Care Ground and Air Transport Services, working along with a Critical Care RN to staff the 24 hour-a-day, seven day a week service. WFUBMC is one of the leading Trauma Centers in NC. Twelve (12) Paramedics within our department have completed a lengthy and extensive Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Paramedic Course. Additionally, the CCT-P’s have completed WFUBMC’s RN Orientation Program along with a wide variety of rotations in various critical care units of the hospital. While rotating in these units, they received training in the use of A-lines, Swans-Ganz Catheters, Balloon Pumps and Wound Vacs.

Our CCT-P’s will also have the ability to work with an expanded scope of practice in the Baptist Emergency Department. CCT-P’s will remain full-time employees of Forsyth County EMS while their services are under contract to WFUBMC. This program, not unique to the EMS field, is building a strong partnership between FCEMS and the WFUBMC family to help provide quality patient care.
